Weekend of the "First's"

Be ready to be wowed at how we over-stimulated, over-fed, & over-sunned Miss. Olivia. Ok, ok, I didn't allow her to really be over-sunned but she was out in the sun for a few minutes to win her a 'sun kissed' glow.

We has such a crazy, fun, busy weekend! Olivia had 3 new 'first's' this weekend. 1. Her first day swimming in the lake, 2. Her first boat ride and 3. Attended her first wedding!

She did not care so much for her first dip in the lake. I bought her this super cute 'crab' floaty toy that I thought she would really enjoy...instead she cried the entire time. The neighbors at the lake were asking what we were doing to poor Olivia as they have never heard her cry. Oops! Bad Mommy!



We also took Olivia on her first boat ride, which she seemed to really enjoy! She slept the entire time. It was so much fun to go out on the lake, and she didn't even seem to mind her life jacket. Can't wait to go back out with her!



And then we took her to her first wedding. Yes, all in the same day. As you can imagine we had a very tired baby by 9pm Saturday night. My cousin Nicki Williams got married in Detroit Lakes on Saturday afternoon. We got to see Nana & Cassie & Brody & all of our cousins & Aunts & Uncles. Brody was very excited to see Olivia but she snubbed him and wouldn't even look his way. Snotty baby. For those of you who don't know, Cassie is my closest cousin and best friend. We have been such great friends from the minute we met. And it has been such a blessing and so much fun that our babies are only 3 weeks apart! We also took her over to Big Floyd lake to visit the Rick's between the reception & the wedding!

BPA Free For a Healthy Happy Baby

So if you were around when we were going through our "BPA Bottle Drama" along with Olivia being a total snob about which bottles she wanted to use; it was near impossible to find a bottle in stores that are considered to be BPA Free. EXCEPT the Medela Brand bottles, which of course my little munchkin would not use, at all.

So I was checking out my cousin's Drew & Latisha's Momma Blog Site (Latisha you have been such a saint in advice & resources for us, Kudos!) & ran across a few links to some natural baby care sites and what do I find....a whole page geared towards BPA Free baby products. So now that I've found them, and on top of that bought every bottle known to Target, Wal-Mart & K-Mart (and some misc grocery stores) Avent, Playtex Nurser Slim, Nuk, Medela, Playtex Nurser Wide, and finally found Playtex Nurser Wide with Latex Nipples... I will just need to talk my husband into perhaps purchasing a few more to add to the collection (Love you honey).

Anyway, this site looks really good and I thought I would pass it on to the my Momma readers who may be interested in such things. Oh my gosh, I am just so excited to share this link! What a great site. I am fore sure going to check out the sippy cups...maybe a few bottles. Cheers, Trish

The Bedtime Buzz

I thought I would give you a quick bedtime update since all my ramblings of the terrible bedtime experiences we have been having! As it turns out Olivia has been in bed before 9:30 every night this week!!! Which I consider a huge success! Last night I was ultra impressed with my bedtime skills and had her sleeping soundly by 8:40! AND I have to give 'snaps' to Corey for Tuesday night he had OJ sleeping in bed by 8:30 as well! This has been great for the anxiety/not enough time in the day/new mommy syndrome I seem to be having. Because if baby is in bed early, I have time to get some housework done, spend time with my husband or even take a bath! However, I think 8:40 was too early for Miss. Thing as she woke up at 4am this morning HUNGRY. Luckily my handsome, loving husband came to the rescue & sat up and fed her & put her back to sleep. He said when he laid her back down she didn't make a sound but was wide awake & smiling up a storm at him like she was saying "Hi Daddy, come one, don't you want to just stay up and hang out for the rest of the night" as he laughed at her & came back to bed she nestled snugly on her side (because this is how big girls sleep) and fell right to sleep without a battle.

For any of you that are having bedtime struggles here is what I have learned over the past 2 1/2 weeks. Bedtime routines take time! I think it has taken OJ over 2 weeks to finally realize what bedtime is. And we have set up the following schedule:
7pm on Bath night: Give Olivia a bath
7:30pm: Baby Massage & Start changing Olivia into her bedtime diaper & PJ's
7:45pm: Lights out, Give last bottle & rock Olivia in our new, super soft glider
8:00-8:30pm: Burp baby (who is usually sleeping) and try to lay her down in her crib. Now this is where it gets tricky! The last two nights I have shoved a pacifier in her mouth which has kept her eyes shut & no crying! But prior to this we have spent many nights patting her, rubbing her belly or shaking her crib to keep those darn eyes closed!

I am hoping this trend continues and the terrible bedtimes of the past are behind us.

Grandma Bama's

I wanted to (as promised) post a few pics of the fun weekend we had out at my Grandma-Bama's. We went out to Battle Lake on Saturday morning, went shopping at all the cute little shops in Perham & Ottertail and spent the rest of the day relaxing & visiting with Bama & My Aunt Nancy & her three youngest, Joe, Tom & Elizabeth. If you remember Elizabeth (who is getting so grown up!) was one of the flower girls in our wedding. It was so much fun to see everyone! And on Sunday my Aunts Cathy & Martha & my cousin Annie & her little son Cam all came out to play with us. What a great weekend! And I must mention, all this fun was at the expense of Momma missing a Bachelorette Party for one of my dearest friends Allison Lymburner. It is tough to travel 4 1/2 hours away from my little tullah at this young age! Speaking of young, we have OJ's 4 Month appt on Monday for shots, ouch...and I think we will be getting two thumbs up to start solid foods! Yay! I am so excited to watch her cubby little face scrunch up as I shove her cute little spoons full of nummy rice cereal into her mouth.

Well you guessed it...Baby Olivia is 4 months old today! I can hardly believe she is already 4 months old and at the same time only 4 months old.

She is getting so grown up, and rolled for the first time on Friday afternoon. Of course Momma wasn't there, but Daddy was. So that is better than it happening at daycare!
