Tooting

Last night was bath night at our house and we recently figured out how to take video footage of Olivia on our camera and post it up for all you "Olivia Fans" to check out so we thought we should get some cute bath time clips.

She can see herself in the mirror and loves to just watch us give her a bath in the mirror. So as Corey was trying to get her attention off herself (is that a sign of things to come?) she ended up tooting in the tub. Oh it was so hilarious and it was all caught on tape. It is amazing to see how she becomes more alert every day. I stood her up in front of the mirror last night and she just stared at herself and smiled. I think she thinks she is as cute as we do. Building her self esteem at an early age!

Our Dr. suggested we start giving her baby vitamins as I guess booby babies need more Vitamin D in their diets than I can produce for her and recently they have started to make her farts so smelly. It is really hilarious how these loud smelly toots can come out of something so cute!

Bottle Feeding Update: OJ is still doing SO GREAT with the bottle, I can't tell if she prefers the bottle over me anymore which is great for times I need Corey to feed her in the mornings. But she has learned (maybe from being at daycare?) to yell for her supper. When she is hungry WATCH OUT her cries are LOUD and bossy. The girl knows what she wants, she is such a smarty pants.

Memorial Weekend

This past weekend we took Olivia to the lake with us to spend time with Grandma & Grandpa & Uncle Drew & Brady for the long holiday weekend. It was such a nice break from our long week of work and daycare last week. It was so nice outside Olivia was able to wear her first dress! She looked so adorable with her chunky little thighs showing! Uncle Drew bought her a really cute

Ralph Lauren patchwork polo style dress that she rocked out in and showed everyone that being at the lake doesn't mean you can't dress in style. Uncle Drew also suprised us with her new "Juicy" two piece swimsuit....OMG this suit is so darn cute I can't wait for her to wear it! She is going to look like a rockstar! Pictures to come as soon as she fits into it! Just wanted to post a few pics for the week!

First Week of Daycare

If you hadn't heard I had to return to work this past Monday (May 19th, 2008) which turned out to be a better day than I had thought. My Mom had Olivia on Monday and continued to work on getting that booby baby accustomed to using a bottle. Needless to say over the span of an 8 hour day my poor mother spent at least 4 hours feeding that girl about 6 oz of formula. So of course I was a nervous wreck to ship my starving baby off to daycare the next day. Olivia and Grandma Mary just hung out, did laundry (at our house yay!) and Olivia got to take her first car ride in Grandma's car.

On Tuesday I had to drop Olivia off at Barb's for daycare and made it all the way over there without any tears...but as soon as I started to drive away I cried myself all the way to work. What a heart wrenching thing to leave your child with someone else. I just was thinking about all of the amazing things she will see of Olivia's "firsts" and how much I will have to learn about my daughter through someone else. LUCKILY Barb is awesome and called me at 9:30 to tell me that little turkey chugged a 3 oz bottle down in about 10 minutes and wondered if she could feed her more....OF COURSE YOU CAN. So thanks to Barb and my Mom's hard efforts on Monday, our little Olivia has re-learned how to use a bottle.

As for the rest of the week...Olivia has been doing so great at daycare. All the kids LOVE her and wait by the front window for her to arrive and come running "she's here, she's here!!" when we walk in the door. She even has made a few friends. One of the "little Mom's" Riley got to give Olivia her bottle on Thursday and one of the little boys wishes she were his sister. So it makes Momma feel so much better to drop her off at such a welcoming home. And now today, Friday May 23rd she was with Grandma all day again...eating her bottle like a pro and has slept almost all day from all the commotion of this past week.

Olivia's Shots

Before & After Pics...

I am a few days behind on posting the latest on Olivia but thought I would throw some information up today. Last Friday Olivia had her 2 month shots. To our dismay we were unable to get her the vaccines w/out Mercury. Apparently Meritcare does not have a supplier and I was told by the nurse that the vaccine without the mercury preservative has a preservative derived from formaldehyde...GROSS is all I have to say about that. So anyway, we went through with getting her vaccinated anyway.

She was such a good sport. When she was getting weighed & measured she was smiling and cooing. She weighed 11lbs 3 oz and was 22 1/4 inches long. About 50ish% for her height and 75ish% for her weight. Big booda belly!

So then we saw Dr. Lien and she gave us a clean bill of health and send the nurse in to shoot her up. You should have seen the look on her poor face when that first shot went in. Poor girl. Of course I was in tears seeing how sad she was. This was officially the hardest she has ever cried. But she only sobbed for a few minutes afterwards and was all better. She was such a good girl all weekend (as long as we kept up on the Tylenol) and was just a happy little camper hanging out with Grandma and Grandpa at the lake.

Once again I will say, she is just such and amazingly good baby!

2 Months!

It is so hard to believe that 2 months ago...at about this same time 10:40 am... I was getting ready to be induced to have my precious baby girl. What a crazy couple of months it has been. We are so grateful for all the support of our friends and family during this time and have to say life has changed for the better. Olivia is such a blessing and the greatest thing Corey & I could ever think of doing. If I had to do it all over...I wouldn't change a thing.

So tomorrow we have Olivia's 2 month appointment which means 1. She gets a serious round of shots in her chubby little thigh and 2. I go back to work on Monday. Boo : ( I am very relieved however that Grandma Mary will have Olivia for the first day of me abandoning her to be a working Mom. Maybe someday I can claim title of 'soccer Mom' and not have to worry about daycare.

We are still busy trying to teach Olivia how to chug a bottle. It is undecided if she likes it or not. Yesterday Corey & I both got her to drink 2 oz in a timely manner. Which I see as a big improvement over the past couple of days. Huge relief, I have been worried she will starv when I take myself and her food source to work with me.

I will fill you in on how the shots go...and on my first day back at work.

Fishing Opener

Over this past weekend Corey & I decided to take the opportunity to take Olivia to the cabin so Daddy could fish and Mommy & Olivia could relax. We had a really great time, she was such a good girl. She is just such a calm baby and never really puts up a fight or throws a fit. Corey & I laugh often if she cries for more than 30 seconds...we think we need to call the Dr. or think there is something seriously wrong. We have been so blessed with such a wonderful little baby. What does that mean for our next...let's not think about it.

Corey thinks Olivia will be doing a lot of fishing with him this summer so we went out on a hunt to find a life jacket. We were able to find one that is size 'up to 30 lbs' which does fit but she is not all that sold on. She woudln't shoot us a cute little smile when we tried it on...but didn't cry either so the jury's out on this one.

Olivia Joy Sorenson

Well here goes...I am going to take a stab at boring all my friends & family with my non-creative writing skills. My top-notch cousins formally of Lake Stevens, WA brought this world of child blogging to my attention a few days ago and I thought "hey, why doesn't Olivia have a blog?" so here we go. Cheers to Drew & Latisha, thanks for the help!

Our little princess, Olivia Joy Sorenson was born on a very cold March day in 2008 (3/21/08) Good Friday non the less and after this year will also fall on 'the first day of spring'. Here were her stats...after 19 hours of pretty comfortable labor (thanks to the epidural-what was I thinking to even try to do this naturally...I only made it about 4 hours) she was born. 7 lbs 1 oz, 19.25 Inches.

Now at close to 8 weeks she is 21.25 inches & 10 lbs 14 oz +++ (This weight was taken last week). She is our pride & joy and life will never be the same.
